Commissions of Inquiry

There are a number of occasions where an individual might require legal assistance in relation to a Royal Commission or other Government enquiry, such as a Coronial Inquest. While not common, these types of hearings are unique and are conducted under specific legislation, some of which also come with special coercive powers. What is common however, is that being called before such a hearing can be stressful and confusing; especially without competent counsel.

At Reinke Lawyers we have past experience in assisting individuals that have been required to appear in:

  • Royal Commissions;

  • Coronial Inquests; and

  • Enquiries by the Crime and Corruption Commission.

Successfully navigating these kinds of hearings requires a knowledge of complex legislation and familiarity with the unique processes of such matters.

It is crucial that if you have received a summons to appear at a Royal Commission, or any other kind of Inquest or Inquiry, you contact a lawyer and receive advice before you speak to any other person. There can be serious consequences for you if you act without seeking such advice, including the issuing of arrest warrants and even criminal charges.
